  • 3 meets: June 1, 8 & 22 at Newton High School. Warm-up start TBA, Meet start at 7p.
  • 2 Nitros competitive meets: qualified swimmers only June 17 & 29 in McPherson (details at team meeting)
  • Practice starting May 24: Monday-Thursday 7p-7:40p Junior (10 & under); 7p-8:15 Senior (qualified 9-10 year olds and 11 & older) at Newton High School pool
  • Swimsuit and goggles required (one piece suits for girls). A good source for gear: SwimOutlet.com (recommended, but not required)
  • Parents needed to volunteer at meets to time and help keep kids socially distanced
  • Social distancing and Newton High School rules enforced to prevent the spread of COVID-19
  • Practices and meet attendance are not required to participate. Come when it fits your schedule.
  • Price includes participation costs, t-shirt, meets, race awards and USA Swimming fee.

Newton Nitros Swim Club (Swim Newton Inc) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization founded in 1996 with the goal of helping  team members develop and refine their swimming skills.  Swimmers practice year-round at the Newton High School pool and at the Newton Municipal Pool during summer months. Newton Nitros Swim club participates in the Missouri Valley Division of United States Swimming. Nitros swimmers have the opportunity to develop and excel while participating in USS sanctioned swim meets. As swimmers progress and achieve qualifying times, they may participate in Missouri Valley and USS Championships. Nitros have competed in District MV Championships, Missouri Valley Championships, Central Zones, Sectionals, and Junior National competitions.  There have also been several swimmers go on to participate as scholarship athletes at the NCAA Division I and II University level.
